CHICKS ON SPEED finally make their long awaited US-return with the CD- release of their brilliant album 99 CENTS on their own independent label CHICKS ON SPEED RECORDS after it was released in the rest of the world by Labels/EMI. The new album, their third long player, follows ‘The Re – Releases Of The Un – Releases’ (COSR00) compilation and 2000’s brilliant debut ‘Will Save Us All’ (COSR01), and is without doubt their finest collection of songs to date. Written and recorded in their hometown of Berlin by the CHICKS ON SPEED line up of Kiki Moorse, Melissa Logan and Alex Murray-Leslie with the production team GLOVE the new album sees the band collaborate with a number of their favourite musicians, including Miss Kittin, Le Tigre, Nicola from Adult and Talking Heads’ / Tom Tom Club’s Tina Weymouth, who teams up with CHICKS ON SPEED for a take on her own 1981 classic ‘Wordy Rappinghood’. ‘We Don’t Play Guitars’ features another guest appearance, this time from Peaches on vocals and guitar, and sees CHICKS ON SPEED deliver the type of perfect pop song they’ve so far only threatened. CHICKS ON SPEED, who began as a fake band at The Munich Art Academy in 1997, have explored and exploited all facets of music and art since releasing their debut 7″ ‘Warm Leatherette’ in 1998. The trio have created their own personal, international, “do it yourself” melting pot style and have more than established themselves in the fields of pop music, fashion and art. The band publish a book in October 2003 entitled “Chicks on Speed, It´s a project!”, with London publisher Booth-Clibborn. As a very special bonus for the US-CD-edition only the double cd will contain 2 Bonus-Videos of “We Don’t Play Guitars (feat. Peaches)” and “Wordy Rappinghood” as well as 9 (!) remixes of these songs by electronic music greats CHICKEN LIPS, DAVE CLARKE, TREVOR JACKSON/PLAYGROUP, CRISTIAN VOGEL, TIEFSCHWARZ, CHRISTOPHER JUST, GERHARD POTUZNIK, CAPTAIN COMATOSE and GERHARD POTUZNIK.

The Long Way Home
Terra is 28, single, and muddling through her life as though locked in a time capsule of early adulthood. She obsesses about an old crush, commiserates with her best friend from high school and scours her old diaries for answers. That is, until a strange encounter with a violent waitress whisks her back to the world she documented in her diaries — a world where she is 16 years old, her life hasn’t yet ground to a screeching halt, and she might still have a chance with the boy of her dreams. As Terra sets out to change the mistakes she made as a teenager, she discovers that her memories and reality don’t quite fit together in this new version of her old life. A boy who claims to be in love with her becomes more dark and controlling, her own crush is more aloof than ever, and a mysterious girl lurks in the periphery, threatening to tear down the walls of Terra’s past. As the truth begins to unravel, Terra slips into a time-bending spiral of memories and lost dreams that she might not be able to escape with her life.
